Manage marketing consent and unsubscribes
Record channel-specific marketing consent, honour preference changes, and understand the controls that exclude clients from promotional delivery.
Follow the guide
Step by step
- 1
Collect marketing consent using a lawful, clear process appropriate to the business, channel and recipient location. Appointment or service communication consent does not automatically mean promotional consent.
- 2
Record email and SMS preferences separately, including evidence describing how and when consent was obtained when the workspace asks for it.
- 3
Use Clients or Marketing audience tools to review a person’s current channel status. Do not re-enable a preference without valid authority and evidence.
- 4
Before sending, review consent and suppression exclusions in the campaign preview. Schedmo fails closed when a required promotional consent is absent.
- 5
Every marketing email and SMS uses the required first-party unsubscribe or preference path. Preference endpoints remain available even when campaign sending is paused.
- 6
An unsubscribe updates the relevant channel preference and excludes later promotional sends. Permanent delivery failures and complaints are also suppressed.
- 7
Use frequency limits and quiet hours to avoid over-messaging eligible clients. Eligibility is checked again when a scheduled campaign is dispatched.
- 8
Keep promotional campaigns separate from factual operational notices. Operational messages must not be used to bypass a marketing opt-out.
- 9
If a client disputes a send, pause further contact where appropriate and review the consent evidence, campaign, recipient status and audit history before responding.
- 10
The business remains responsible for the notices, lawful basis, consent evidence and messaging rules that apply in every location where it operates.
