Understand marketing campaign charges

See how promotional email and SMS usage is estimated and billed separately from operational messaging allowances.

In this guide

Review the campaign estimate

  1. Open Marketing and select your campaign. Review its delivery channel, eligible audience, currency and price estimate before sending or scheduling.

  2. Marketing tools are available with eligible subscriptions, but promotional delivery is billed separately. Unlimited operational email reminders remain included in the plan. Campaign email is charged per provider-accepted recipient; SMS is charged per accepted billable segment. Marketing sends do not consume operational messaging allowances.

Understand final billable usage

  1. Review the final rendered SMS including personalisation and tracked links. Longer messages and Unicode characters can require multiple segments; one recipient can therefore generate more than one billable unit.

  2. The estimate uses eligible recipients. Consent, suppression and frequency controls are checked again before dispatch, so the accepted usage and final amount can differ from the preview. Skipped recipients and sends that failed before provider acceptance are not counted as accepted usage.

Check billing or raise a question

  1. Review delivery activity and your billing records after sending. Accepted means the provider accepted the message, not that the customer received or read it. A later delivery failure does not undo provider acceptance.

  2. If a charge needs investigation, contact Support with the campaign and billing invoice references, date, currency and the discrepancy. Do not send full card details or repeatedly relaunch the campaign to resolve a billing issue.
